Dear FOIS Members and Friends,
As another Annual Academy Meeting approaches, one of the highlights many of us look forward to is the FOIS Dinner Meeting . This has always been a great opportunity to connect with old friends (I guess some older than others), share our past and current experiences, participate in cutting edge presentations by leaders in our field, and, of course, enjoy a great dinner. 2011 is no exception, with our colleague and friend, Anthony Adamis M.D., discussing “Choroidal Neovascularization: From Bench to Biotech to Bedside” at the Citron Restaurant on October 22 (see attached). The 2011 AAO FOIS Annual Meeting is also important because voting will take place for the new Executive Committee.
Annual membership dues for the Society have been kept at a modest $100, and include admission to the annual dinner meetings at both AAO and ARVO. Dues also help to offset some of the cost of the FOIS website (www.fosterocularimmunologysociety.org) and supports travel expenses for trainees. I encourage everyone to pay their dues in advance of the meeting on our website.
The cost for this year’s dinner will be $100 per person, for those who have not paid dues (which would go towards membership dues if desired) and $50 for invited guests of members, both of which will be collected at the dinner. As you can imagine, the payment only partially covers the true cost of these functions.
As outgoing President of FOIS, I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you this October in Orlando.
